Training and Capacity Building Support

.

Strong organizations need more than funding to sustain their work. They also need the people, systems, knowledge, and connections that support effective leadership, sound operations, and long-term sustainability.

The Sacramento Countywide Nonprofit Partnership Initiative connects nonprofits with resources and opportunities that can help strengthen organizational capacity. Some resources are provided by Sacramento County, while many capacity-building opportunities are offered through trusted nonprofit, philanthropic, business, and community partners.

Whether your organization is looking to strengthen a specific area of its operations, explore capacity-building opportunities, or connect with organizations that support the nonprofit sector, start here.

Sacramento County has partnered with the Sacramento Region Community Foundation to support a nonprofit capacity-building cohort focused on strengthening participating organizations and their long-term sustainability. The cohort provides participating organizations with opportunities for training, technical assistance, mentorship, peer learning, organizational assessment, and other support tailored to organizational needs. Areas of focus include:

  • Baseline organizational analyses
  • Financial management systems
  • Human resource systems
  • Staffing management and oversight
  • Executive leadership mentoring
  • Board development and governance
  • Grant seeking, readiness, writing, and compliance
  • Sustainability planning
  • Marketing and communications
